The legal 'bit'
At the moment - In England and Wales, you still need to go to the Register office for a legal ceremony if you want your wedding to have legal status.
Many couples do this before or on the same day as the wedding ceremony.
You simply make an appointment and go along on the day with two witnesses for a short ceremony and they will issue you with a legal document which confirms your legal marriage.

This is set to change soon with statute currently being written - so watch this space!
